What is this show?
An interview with creator Curtis Raye:
What is FOIA?
FOIA stands for Freedom of Information Act. This is a comedy show that uses real public records to inspire all sorts of comedy.
Public records could be FBI profiles, letters to the FCC, even the minutes of a school board meeting. Hidden inside these documents are treasures of humor, from real life and real people.
Can FOIA be funny?
Absolutely. Seinfeld made a career complaining about airline peanuts. Imagine what’s possible with all the complaints from airline passengers sent in to the Federal Aviation Administration.
Do you have a favorite public record?
I enjoy real people writing letters to the government. Also, many things involving J. Edgar Hoover are odd. He’s written fan mail to baseball players. And he’s quite responsive to citizens’ letters, writing back often.
What else would you like people to know?
The show is not just a comedy show. I’ll be joined by amazing bluegrass musicians. On banjo will be Bennett Sullivan, who Steve Martin handpicked for his show Bright Star on Broadway. Plus Grammy nominee Chris Luquette of Frank Solivan & Dirty Kitchen.
This sounds intriguing. If someone wants to see it, what should they do?
